PART 3

This is a new series where we are learning the whole of Kenny Burrell’s ‘Midnight Blue’ from his 1963 album of the same name. There will be a new lesson every Saturday where we will learn another chorus from this excellent tune! And there will be TAB on screen!

In this lesson we look at the second chorus in the solo! Kenny Burrell has a SUPER SIMPLE way of using the ALTERED SCALE, BLUES SCALE, we look at SUPER IMPOSING TRIADS, the DORIAN #11 SCALE and HARMONIC MINOR SCALE! We also look at how STEVIE WONDER took some inspiration from jazz by using the same device for SUPER IMPOSED TRIADS to get an ALTERED SCALE sound.

So much all in 20 minutes! Phew!

I then give you some ALL IMPORTANT TIPS on how to use these devices in YOUR SOLOS!

Next week we will be looking at the 3rd chorus from Kenny Burrell’s MIDNIGHT BLUE solo!
