It’s easy just to use the C-shape 9th chords when playing funk but why not try something different?
Here I’ve used different extensions and voicings together with some right hand technique bored from country guitar players like Brent Mason to create something a little more interesting over a simple I7 – IV7 movement.
You probably wouldn’t play all of these at once like in this clip but it shows gives you an idea of what you can do. Have a go!
