PART 2

This is a new series where we are learning the whole of Kenny Burrell’s ‘Midnight Blue’ from his 1963 album of the same name. There will be a new lesson every Saturday where we will learn another chorus from this excellent tune! And there will be TAB on screen!

In this lesson we look at the first chorus in the solo! This is full of easy jazz and blues licks which are ideal if you are getting started in jazz. We also look at how to navigate over a minor 2 – 5 – 1, how to play over dominant 7th chords, enclosure, outside playing and more! Phew!

I then give you some all important tips on how to use these devices in your solos.

Next week we will be looking at the 2nd chorus from the solo!
